The Family Behind Villa Unity

Built as our home.
Shared with families like ours.

We arrived on Koh Samui in January 2020 with Pandora, then one year old, and Pearl, just days old — as the world was beginning to feel very uncertain. The day after we arrived, the island closed. Travel between provinces was restricted. The only place we could have returned to was Bangkok, the very city we'd just left.

So we stayed. And over the following months, we fell completely in love with the island.

After three months, we began looking for land. It took six more months to find this particular plot — and we chose it deliberately. We'd been renting villas all over Samui and learned what we needed: proximity to Fisherman's Village and Bangrak, somewhere family-friendly, not party-focused. And accessible. I'm a keen cyclist, and after a long ride around the island, the last thing I wanted was a brutal mountain climb home.

This location was exactly right. A natural waterway runs at the front of the property — strong and musical for part of the year, a quiet stream the rest. Behind the property, an elephant sanctuary I never imagined I'd be able to call a neighbour. And two kilometres to Bophut Beach, one of our favourite places on the island for evening walks, dinners, and watching the girls grow up.

When we designed the villa, we asked ourselves one question: if the world ever shut down again and we had to be somewhere — what would we want that place to have? The answer became the brief. No compromises. Everything we could dream of.

Five years later, the answer is Villa Unity. This home is a reflection of us, our family, and the life we love here. And now, we welcome you to enjoy our sanctuary.

The sanctuary offers guided visits where guests observe elephants in their natural environment, interacting through positive reinforcement rather than performance. Villa Unity has a 5-night minimum stay throughout the year, including peak season (20 December – 5 January). We built this home to be lived in — not visited. Five nights is when guests stop exploring and start belonging. The waterway, the wellness floor, the elephant sanctuary next door, the rhythm of the kitchen and the pool and the rooftop — these things reveal themselves slowly. Shorter stays rarely do the property justice. Extended stays of 14 nights receive a 10% discount on nightly rates; 28 nights or more receive 20%. All rates are subject to 17.7% tax and service charge.
Villa Unity is our family home. During May–June and September–November each year, we live here ourselves — these months are not publicly listed as available. We do, however, occasionally accommodate very special requests during this period, depending on timing and circumstance. If your dates fall within these months, please reach out directly rather than assuming it isn't possible. We'll always do our best to help.
Exclusive use of all five levels and every facility — infinity pool, full wellness sanctuary (sauna, steam room, ice bath, hot plunge, massage studio, salon), fitness studio, gym, outdoor yoga area, cinema, entertainment bar with pool table, rooftop viewing deck with tea ceremony space, all outdoor spaces, and the full grounds. Villa manager, daily housekeeping, and gardening staff are included. Private chef, massage therapists, personal trainers, airport transfers, boat trips and grocery pre-stocking are available to arrange separately.
Villa Unity is rented as a complete estate only — all five bedrooms, all five levels, all facilities. There are no partial rentals. This is how it was designed to be experienced: as a single, cohesive private home for your group. Up to 10 guests across 5 en-suite bedrooms.
The Samui Elephant Haven is 150 metres from the villa — a short 150-metre walk to the entrance from the property. They operate half-day ethical encounter sessions (no riding, no performance) and a café where you can dine while watching the elephants. We recommend booking directly with the sanctuary; fees apply. The proximity is unique to Villa Unity — no other Koh Samui property offers this.
Yes. We work with trusted private chefs who can be arranged for daily service — from breakfast preparation using the villa's own herb garden, to full dinner service for ten guests. The main kitchen is complemented by a dedicated chef kitchen — both professional-grade — with dining for twelve. Chef fees and food costs are charged separately. Please enquire when making your booking and we'll discuss your requirements.
We accept all major currencies (USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, SGD, THB and others), standard bank transfers, and cryptocurrency including Bitcoin. We believe in removing friction from the booking process — if you have a preference, tell us and we'll accommodate it. A 30% deposit secures your dates, with the balance due 60 days prior to arrival.
We understand that plans change. Cancellations made 60 or more days before arrival receive a full deposit refund. For cancellations within 60 days, we will always do our best to accommodate a date change or rebooking where circumstances allow — please speak with us directly. Peak season bookings (December–January) are subject to specific terms discussed at the time of enquiry. We recommend comprehensive travel insurance for all bookings at this level, and we're happy to suggest a provider if helpful.
Villa Unity runs entirely on solar power with battery backup — meaning zero power interruptions, ever. This is a material distinction on Koh Samui, where island power cuts are not uncommon. Fibre broadband is available throughout the property. Loxone smart home automation manages climate control, blinds, curtains, lighting and humidity across all spaces from a single interface.
Yes — the five-level architecture creates natural separation between adult and children's spaces. A dedicated kids study and playroom sits on the main living level, and a sunken trampoline is set into the gardens. The grounds are secure. The infinity pool includes a shallow area and jacuzzi, but is unsupervised — we recommend constant adult supervision for young children near the water. Pool floats and a life ring are available, and a pool fence can be discussed at enquiry. A cot and high chair can be arranged in advance. The elephant sanctuary next door is one of the most memorable experiences available to children anywhere in Southeast Asia.
Very much so. The cinema and office on the ground floor doubles as a presentation and meeting space. The rooftop viewing deck is ideal for open-air strategy sessions. Fibre broadband and smart home AV throughout. The catering capability (private chef, pre-stocked kitchen) removes all logistical friction.
